Rising Kindergartners through Rising 5th Graders
The Sensational Social Skills program will run for two weeks Monday – Thursday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and is led by occupational and speech therapists. Each week will focus on varying themes designed to expand social-emotional skills for your child. The group is designed to build confidence and positive peer relationships through modeling, guided facilitation, and practice opportunities. It helps children to develop better self-control, self-esteem, emotional awareness, basic problem-solving skills, social skills, and friendships.
During the Sensational Social Skills camp, various programs will be incorporated to support the child’s learning and generalization of skills. Curriculum will include the Alert Program®, “How Does Your Engine Run?”, Social Thinking® “Superflex®”, PATHS® (Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies), The Zones of Regulation®, and Ayre’s Sensory Integration®.
Through the Sensational Social Skills camp, your child will become more aware of their emotions and how to better match their response to the situation. They will be given tools to enhance their self-regulation while improving social interactions within a group setting. Each child will receive strategies for home to allow for practice outside of the group.
Please pack a snack and/or lunch for your child and a bottle of water. Some sessions will be held outside, please be sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather and with proper shoes for running and climbing.
