Kelly is a Nationally Board Certified Occupational Therapist with license to practice in the state of North Carolina. She received her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology with a Minor in Genetics at North Carolina State University. Kelly went on to acquire her Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy from Augusta University.
Kelly has developed a passion for neurology and this has expanded into her desire to work with children. She feels that in order to facilitate a child’s growth and development, there needs to be a genuine connection between the family, child and therapist. This connection with families and their children shows through in her dedication to client outcomes. Kelly enjoys working with children of all ages with strengths in early development, neurological conditions, social-emotional development, and executive functioning.
Kelly says, “Our families at IS are amazing!! I enjoy the bond that is created not only with the kiddos, but the families as well!” She understands that no one knows the child better than their parents and caregivers. Kelly believes that collaborating with the most important people in the child’s life, provides a team approach and gives insight to new strategies thereby promoting overall success and well-being for our little friends and their families. She strives to end each session promoting regulation, confidence, and FUN!
While working with her clients, Kelly uses therapeutic strategies gained from on-going research and training in areas such as Sensory Integration, Picky Eaters versus Problem Feeders, Therapeutic Auditory programs, Executive Function, Treatment of Trauma for Children and Adolescents, the Wilbarger Therapressure Program, Handwriting Without Tears, and Skilled Handling Techniques. Her membership in the American Occupational Therapy Association keeps her on the cutting edge of research and evidence-based therapy protocols.
When Kelly is not working with children at IS, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two pups, visiting family, hiking, and traveling.
